orchestral experience

Tue 8 Oct
Battersea Arts
Centre, London

With rising star conductor Charlotte Politi at the helm, Chromatica Orchestra arrives in spine-tingling style with Aaron Copland’s Fanfare for the Common Man.

Kristine Balanas’ “savage, bold, dramatic playing” then makes a charismatic presence on the stage for Samuel Barber’s Violin Concerto. Kristine made a head-turning transformation from performing as a street musician and Rock-n-Roll singer in Latvia to graduating with honours from London’s Royal Academy of Music. After the interval Kristine is joined by Maren Bosma, our orchestra leader, in Sergei Prokofiev’s electrifying Sonata for Two Violins. See these two musicians up close as they leave the stage to join you in the audience.

Georgian mezzo-soprano Natalia Kutateladze, a graduate of New York’s prestigious Julliard School and prize-winner in numerous international competitions, brings to life Manuel de Falla’s El amor Brujo (Love Bewitched), a seductive set of flamenco-inspired dances and songs that takes you straight into the heat and promise of an Andalusian night.
